The Ability Project Highlights Family Support, During Autism Awareness Month

BY: Lisa Kramer

Without Community Clubs to Assist Us in our needed goals, our productivity is stalled. This week I, highlighted Blairsville Kiwanis Club for their donations of stuffed animals and edible bird houses. These beautiful collections not only go towards presenting happenings, but also toward future events. Thank You all for your generosity to our cause.

Here is another exciting present coming our way. April is Autism Awareness Month, and we are celebrating Special Olympics on Thursday April 16, at Union County High School, Football Field, you add life to the event, so as they shine in their sport. The starting time is between 9-9:30am

On Friday April 17th, our support group meeting will welcome guest speaker Becky Tracy, who leads Family Connection. Available resources, services, and those families needing to navigate special needs options will be discussed. This meeting, open to the community, provides opportunities for connection, conversation, and support. Please join us at the Union County Library at 9:30am where we can mingle with coffee and donuts.

Don't forget to sign up for our 5k at Meeks Park on Sept. 5. If you want more details on any of the above join our Facebook Group at Special Needs Families of Union County. Networking is informative and fun. I look forward to networking with all of you.
